Charity: Kliptown Youth Program
Stephanie Venter fell hopelessly in love with corporate social investment when she joined the Vodacom Change the World programme.
Venter who is a chartered accountant worked for a year at the Career Centre of the Kliptown Youth Program (KYP).
She said that when she heard about the Vodacom Change the World programme, it seemed almost too good to be true.
Venter explained that it is the vision of the KYP Career Centre to empower and enable the youth of Kliptown to look at ways to lift themselves out of poverty.
She said: “The year saw us putting into practice: aptitude testing to assist with the subject choices of grade nine students and help them look at career choices.
“Other things we also focused on were: career guidance, student personal development and academic support.
As a second year volunteer on the Vodacom Change the World programme, Stephanie wants to extend the reach and variety of services Kliptown Youth Project can offer young people.
