Charity: Golden Gateway Hospice
The 32-year old Malepa, who works as a coordinator for the Orphaned and Vulnerable Children at Golden Gateway Hospice, strongly believes in the power of volunteering.
Prior to the Vodacom Change the World programme, she volunteered at the organisation which is based in the Free State, for two years. Mapheleba has a degree in Human and Societal Dynamics and three years’ experience as a social worker.
Golden Gateway Hospice aims to provide quality palliative care to all, caring for people with life threatening diseases by giving them life support. Their main focus is on patients suffering with cancer, HIV/Aids and tuberculosis.
Malepa will be focusing on peer education and nutrition for children at the NPO. She will also be engaged in therapeutic and memory work with the children.
In order to ensure the sustainability of the programme, Malepa will be training one additional orphan and vulnerable children coordinator at Golden Gate Hospice.
