Zwelakhe George Boloko is from Hopetown, Northern Cape.
Zwelakhe (25) holds a Bachelor of Arts and his Honours in Development and Management specializing in Public Management from North West University. He has been selected for the 2017/2018 Vodacom Change the World volunteerism programme.
Zwelakhe will spend a year making a difference at the Hopetown Youth Centre as a Project Coordinator focusing on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) skills development.
The Hopetown Youth Centre is a non-profit organisation that focuses on youth development.
Zwelakhe says: “I am a person that always wants to help other people regardless of their background.”
He says his research shows a significant lack of motivation and information on current affairs amongst young people.
“I decided to launch project Impumelelo which means success, where we provide tertiary education opportunities free-of-charge to those that want to further their education. The demand for the service offered through this project increased, not only in Hopetown, but in other neighbouring towns in the Northern Cape. Due to financial constraints and the lack of resources I am not been able to reach everyone that is in need of my help,” said Zwelakhe.
