Meet the S3 NewsBuzz team
Today, Sarepta Secondary School in Cape Town is buzzing. In the school’s 29 year history, this is their first newspaper,S3 NewsBuzz. It is such an exciting time at the school, with even the teachers impressed with the results of the project so far. This amazing group of learners showed zeal, tackling their first assignments with so much passion. I am so proud of them. I saw some blossom and have true potential to become great writers, while others are still coming out of their shells.
It has been 3 months since the inception of the school newspaper guidance and motivation project and I can already see to what extent we will motivate our youth. Seeing the light in their eyes when we delivered the newspapers was unforgettable. They CAN and SHOULD look forward to a bright future and its endless possibilities. In our first issue, Hope House counsellors could instil a sense of hope in learners who struggles with depression and cutting, a jealous boyfriend, feeling unloved by parents, coping with sibling rivalry, dealing with cyber-bullying and another obsessed with being perfect. Each one of them had the courage to write in and seek help, something that was not possible before. We congratulate Sarepta Secondary School on this big achievement. They cannot thank Vodacom Change the World team enough for investing in their future!
