Vodacom is committed to using the resources at its disposal to improve access to education, health and safety, which are the main areas of focus for the Vodacom Foundation. These three core areas of the Vodacom Foundation are also in line with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, along with the set of bold new Global Goals that were formally adopted by the 193-Member United Nations Assembly on Friday, 25 September 2015. The 17 Sustainable Development Goals and 169 targets seek to build on the Millennium Development Goals and complete what they did not achieve. They are integrated and indivisible and balance the three dimensions of sustainable development: the economic, social and environmental. The Goals and targets will stimulate action over the next 15 years in areas of critical importance for humanity and the planet.
The Global Goals resonate well with the core activities of the Vodacom Foundation, and to this end, we would like declare our full support and commitment to continue to drive sustainable initiatives that can help alleviate some of the country’s most pressing social challenges.
